What’s the difference between the tool rail tiles and the Stitch Library?
Section titled “What’s the difference between the tool rail tiles and the Stitch Library?”The Run / Satin / Fill tiles on the rail are quick access to whichever preset you used last for that kind. Tapping the tile that’s already active — rather than switching to it from a different tool — opens the full Stitch Library popover instead, with every saved preset of that kind listed.
What can I do to a preset from the Library list?
Section titled “What can I do to a preset from the Library list?”Swipe an entry for Duplicate, Delete, or Edit, and swipe (or long-press) for Add to HUD — a star that favorites it for the floating HUD described below. There’s also a New Stitch button at the bottom of the list to start one from scratch.
What does the stitch editor let me change?
Section titled “What does the stitch editor let me change?”Opened by tapping an already-active preset, or via Edit: the preset’s name, a purely cosmetic tag color (six fixed swatches — this is never the actual thread color, just a label), every parameter for that stitch kind (length, width, density, passes, and so on), and a Pencil section unique to presets:
- Smoothing (Streamline) — settles out small hand tremor in your stroke
- Pressure sensitivity + Intensity — on supported hardware, live band-width preview as you draw, driven by how hard you press
This is the one place Apple Pencil pressure and smoothing behavior actually live — per Stitch preset, not as a single global setting.
Can I delete a built-in preset?
Section titled “Can I delete a built-in preset?”No — built-in presets can be edited and duplicated, but not deleted, so there’s always a known-good fallback to return to (or via Factory reset).
What is the floating HUD, and how do I move it?
Section titled “What is the floating HUD, and how do I move it?”Once you’ve favorited at least one Stitch via Add to HUD, a small round “puck” appears floating over the canvas. Tap it to fan out up to 8 favorites in a ring for quick access without opening the Library popover at all. You can drag the puck itself anywhere on screen — StitchPencil remembers where you left it.
